The GUIDO coal mine
Tourist visiting the Guido hard coal mine will explore the two historic Levels located 170 metres and 320 metres under the ground, the Europe’s deepest tourist routes of this kind. You go down there with the authentic mining elevator.
The 170 Level depicts the history mining industry of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, with horse stables and the figure of St. Barbara – the patron saint of miners. At the 320 Level, you can walk through authentic mining corridors, see large scale mining machines in operation and take a ride in suspended electric rail. The deepest underground pub offering local beer is also located here.
Tourists wishing to feel like real miners can visit the 355 Level, which presents the harshest areas of the mine, including the decommissioned equipment abandoned by miners. Tourists dressed in working clothes, supervised by an experienced guide have to complete a number of tasks, such as wood cutting or pipeline installation.
In the Guido Coal Mine, you can also participate in numerous cultural events, concerts and business and team building events.
