Museum of Petroleum and Ethnography in Libusza

General

Тип блока:

Museum was founded in 1977 by Anna and Tadeusz Pabis (former employees of the oil industry), on the rich oil traditions.

The museum was founded on the rich oiltraditions, since the first oil wells in the world for industrial purposes were made in “Empty Forest”, in the municipality of Siara in 1852. They carried it out, on the initiative of Prince Stanislaw Jablonowski from Kobylanka, professional miners specially brought from Silesia.

The museum collects, protects and keeps memorabilia of Polish history of the oil industry and popularize the story, the beginning of which is equivalent to the start of the global oil industry, and today is present in creating the story.

The libuskie museum collected so far more than 1,000 oil and ethnographic exhibits, more than 500 biographies of distinguished oil workers, among them 50 resumes of the first digging wells in 1852-1890.
